I have been thinking that whenever I ask somebody for a favour for whom I am not in a position to do anything in return, does my act amount to begging. And if it does amount to begging, is my act in doing so any different from what we see poor kids doing on street lights.
My understanding of the on this is that whenever we instead of depending on our own right to demand something try to appeal to the other person’s E.Q in order to get what we want it amount to begging. For in essence we are trying to get something that does not belong to us, something that we want but if not for the other person’s soft stance, we will not be able to get. And if that be so I see no difference in substance between the act of a student begging his teacher for an extra mark so that he may pass, and those on the street asking people to for money which may entitle them to get a meal. Both in the above example are seeking something that they have no right to, but relying only on the E.Q of the giver. Why then is one looked down upon?
The answer is simple...because we live in a world with classes. That answers the question I hope...but does it justify the discrimination? No.
ReplyDeletehuu ... true.. very true.

ReplyDeleteit is such an overwhelming feeling to see young generation being sensitive towards such issues. I really appreciate the emotions hidden beneath the above passage. Having said that i would wish to draw your attention towards the fact that what is opposed is the regular habit of begging irrespective of who is indulged into it. Depending on others is a smart way out for everything but is there any justification for such an act. Perhaps no, on the contrary it is detrimental to the growth of the society. Nothing is black or white my friend n in todays time it is essential to have a vision to see through what is apparent.
ReplyDeleteanamika mam, i do agree that nothing is black or white anymore, and one has to painstakingly look for the hidden truth and so many things can't be justified.
ReplyDeletebut the question is are all aware that nothing is black and white. most of the people i have come across, are very sure about everthing, based their conviction in my view is on ignorance. and ignorance is a breeding ground for hypocracy.
sir, ignorance and hypocrisy usually dont go together. Hypocrisy is an attribute of one's nature which is based on pretence of having opinions which one doesnt possess and ignorance, on the other hand, implies lack of knowledge to form any opinion at the very first place. So those who are ignorants are not hypocrites.
ReplyDeletewell as you said one who pretends to hold an opinion one does not possess, what does it prima facie show. that the person is ignorant about that the facts which give rise to that opinion.
ReplyDeleteformation of opinion requires one to be aware of the facts otherwise he simply would retrate what other people are saying. this implies that one who is a hypocrate is ignorant about the facts giving rise to a opinion. i therefore hold that ignorance and hypocrasy go hand in hand.
also, i referred to you as mam because you had made a referance to my age in your first comment, and i was made to believe that i was possiably talking to soemone older than me. therefore the word was used asa form of respect.
